Motha wants constitutional solution for indigenous tribes in Tripura: Animesh

The leader of opposition and also the TIPRA Motha leader Animesh Debbarma, Tuesday refused to comment on the delay of the appointment of an interlocutor for dealing with the demand of TIPRA Motha Party and said that the TIPRA Motha wants constitutional solution for the indigenous tribes of Tripura.

He said, “We have nothing to comment over the delay of the appointment of an interlocutor because talks are going on between our chairman Maharaja Pradyot and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This is the duty of the Government of India to appoint interlocutor, so they would need to expedite the process.”

“The Union Minister assured of appointing interlocutor by March 27, but the government failed to do so. So, we are looking into the issue to decide out next course of action,” he added.

Meanwhile, coming out of the third day of the assembly session, the leader of opposition Mr. Debbarma said, “What we want is a constitutional solution including the separate state of ‘Greater Tipraland’ under Articles 2 and 3 of the Constitution.”

According to the statement of TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Manikya Deb Burman made earlier, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the Motha chairman of appointing an interlocutor by March 27 to deal with the demand of constitutional solution.

However, as no interlocutor has been appointed so far, the TIPRA Motha chairman Pradyot gave 24 hours ultimatum to the Centre and threatened to launch hunger strike at ‘Hatai Kotor’ (Baramura Hill).
