Connectivity in Tripura to see major transformation under ‘Act East Policy’: Minister Sushanta Chowdhury
Apr 12, 2023Connectivity in the state of Tripura to see a massive transformation under the Act East Policy of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said state transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday.
The Minister was addressing the event of the inauguration ceremony of Institute of Driving Training and Research at Jirania.
He said, “Advanced infrastructure for connectivity has already been developed in the state and the Act east Policy of the government will further enhance the state’s connectivity. This perhaps would also boost the state’s economy.”
He said that the Agartala MBB Airport has become one of the busiest airports in North Eastern region, where international flight services will also be available from this airport in the coming days. Advanced communication system has been developed in the state by road, air and rail.
“Once the Agartala-Akhaura new rail link project is completed, Tripura will become the gateway to South East Asia. As a result, Tripura's commercial relations with Bangladesh will be stronger. Employment opportunities will also be increased in the state.”
Meanwhile, in reference to the establishment of Institute of Driving Training and Research, the transport minister said that the government has a plan to establish such institutes in every district of the state.
The objective of this institute is to impart better driving training to vehicle drivers. Moreover, the vehicle drivers will also be taught the rules of driving. The minister said that the motor drivers have a key role in the development of the tourism sector, because the motor drivers are the first to meet tourists from abroad.
