BJP castigates Congress for demanding Prez rule in Tripura

Day after the opposition Congress party from Delhi demanded for President’s rule in Tripura alleging law and order had collapsed under the rule of BJP, the ruling BJP party on Monday vehemently protested against the demand and said, “This demand is an attempt to tarnish the image of Tripura.

Addressing a press conference here at the party headquarter on Monday, the BJP leader and also the state ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury claimed that AICC general secretary Ajay Kumar and party MLA Sudip Roy Burman had tried to send a “negative message” about Tripura to the nation by placing the demand from Delhi.

“It is so absurd that the Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman during the time of the then Left front government in Tripura did not rush to Delhi to demand for President’s rule, when murder, rape, attacks, threat and intimidation were rampant in the state,” Chowdhury continued slamming Barman.

He said, “The former Prime Minister Narshima Rao had imposed President’s rule in Tripura just few days before the Assembly election, where the CPI(M)- led Left Front had won when the poll was held three months later. So, the Congress is playing the same game to hand over the power to the Left Front again.”
