CM Dr. Manik Saha inaugurates Workshop on Sports Journalism
Jul 02, 2025On the occasion of World Sports Journalists Day, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated a workshop on sports journalism at the Agartala Press Club on Wednesday. The event was jointly organized by the Agartala Press Club and the Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha highlighted the vital role played by sports journalists in fostering a sports culture and encouraging youth participation in athletics. He said, “Sports journalists play a pivotal role in promoting enthusiasm for sports among the younger generation. Their coverage not only informs but also inspires.”
The workshop aimed to enhance the skills of sports journalists and provide insights into responsible and dynamic reporting in the field of sports. It also served as a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences among professionals.
The event was graced by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy, Secretary of the ICA Department Dr. P. K. Chakraborty, Director of the ICA Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya, and President of the Agartala Press Club Pranab Sarkar, along with other dignitaries and journalists.
The celebration of World Sports Journalists Day in Agartala underscored the significance of journalism in sports development and the state government’s commitment to supporting media professionals in the field.
