CM Dr Manik Saha reviews progress of power department


Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday chaired a review meeting to check the progress and the achievement of the state power department. Chief Minister Dr Saha said that the government is working on multi-pronged programs to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the state.

Power minister Ratan Lal Nath, accompanied by the state secretary of the department Abhishek Singh, Chief Secretary J K Sinha, Secretary to the Chief Minister Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, Secretary of PWD Department Kiran Gitte, Managing Director of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd. Bishwanath Basu, and others were present in the meeting.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Saha stressed on taking special initiatives to implement all the projects of the central government for the development of power services in the state.

Importance should also be given to repair and take up maintenance work of electrical transformers on a regular basis, he said, adding that the power department should take special steps on how to further develop various renewable energies.

He said that special campaigns should also be started to further increase the use of solar energy. Private and various government bindings should be encouraged to use more solar energy, he added.

In the review meeting, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that consumers should be made aware to pay electricity bills on time. The Power Minister also emphasized on identifying those who are using electricity illegally and taking necessary measures against them.

Meanwhile, the secretary of the state power department Abhishek Singh informed that the current electricity supply in the state is 457 MW and the electricity demand is around 362 MW. He said that the department is working with special importance in the implementation of various central projects for the development of electricity infrastructure in the state.

A new 132 KV sub-station has already been set up in the NEC project at Bishramganj which will be commissioned soon, he said, adding that extension of 132/33 KV sub-station at Bodhjungnagar under Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti project is in progress. Construction of transmission lines from Suryamaninagar to Monarchak and from SUryamaninagar to Rukhia is in progress under the Special Financial Assistance Scheme of the State Government, he added.
