Postponement of Tripura poll schedule ‘wrongly’ printed: CEO

Soon after the news of the postponement of election schedule in Tripura by Election Commission of India went viral across the state on Friday with the television news channels making it a headline story, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state election commission Kiran Gitte termed it as ‘wrongly’ printed.

“It is merely a printing mistake. The new date published in the state gazette printed 27/02/2023 is wrongly printed,” Gitte told reporters on Friday evening.

The Election Commission of India has ‘mistakenly’ printed February 27 in place of February 16 as Tripura poll date in its official statement, also uploaded in its official web portal on Friday.

Addressing a press conference this evening, the CEO said, “The date published in the Gazette has been corrected. He said that the vote will be held on February 16 as scheduled.”
