NIA arrests 2 for harbouring Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in Pahalgam terror attack

In a significant breakthrough in the Pahalgam terror attack case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two individuals for allegedly providing shelter and logistical support to Pakistani terrorists affiliated with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
According to an official statement issued by the NIA, the two arrested men — Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar, a resident of Batkote, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar, from Hill Park in Pahalgam — had knowingly harboured the terrorists involved in the recent attack. The agency revealed that the suspects provided food, shelter, and other assistance to the terrorists at a seasonal hut located in Hill Park, ahead of the attack.
The investigation further confirmed that the three armed terrorists were Pakistani nationals and active members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a group designated as a terrorist organization under Indian and international law. During interrogation, Parvaiz and Bashir reportedly disclosed the identities of the terrorists and detailed their role in facilitating the operation.
Both men have been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), a stringent anti-terror law that enables authorities to take action against individuals aiding terrorist activity.
The arrests mark a major development in the ongoing probe into cross-border terrorism and highlight the challenges posed by local networks that provide critical support to foreign terrorist operatives in the region.
Further investigations are underway to identify additional conspirators and uncover the full extent of the terror network involved in the attack.
