CEO, Chief Secretary reviews post-poll law and order situation in North Tripura


The Chief Electoral Officer of the state election commission Kiren Gitte accompanied by the Chief Secretary J K Sinha and Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, Tuesday reviewed the post-poll law and order situation in North Tripura district to ensure peaceful counting on March 2 next.

“We have come here to assess the post-poll law and order situation. We are here to ensure violence-free counting on March 2 next,” said CEO Kiren Gitte.

Meanwhile, the sub-division police officers have initiated meetings with political parties to review local policing. SDPO Sadar Ajay Kumar Das hosted an all-party meeting on Tuesday in his chamber in Agartala, in presence of OCs and second officers posted in police stations and outposts under his jurisdiction.

He said, “We are closely monitoring the situation of law and order here and have taken enough preemptive measures to ensure peaceful counting on March 2 next.”

“We called for a meeting today to engage with political parties and police personnel from different outposts and police stations so that we can adequately prepare for the day of counting,” he told reporters.
