Police arrests 3 women smugglers with Ganja


In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, Teliamura police apprehended three women smugglers while they were allegedly smuggling a significant quantity of cannabis. The arrest took place during a routine vehicle check right in front of the Teliamura police station.

It was reported that, a vehicle traveling from Agartala towards Ambassa was intercepted by police personnel from Teliamura police station. Upon inspection, three female passengers raised suspicion due to their behavior. They were subsequently taken to the police station for further questioning and a detailed search. During the inspection, more than 15 kilograms of dry cannabis—concealed within the women's clothing was recovered. Moreover, the estimated value of the seized Cannabis in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 1 lakh.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and an investigation is currently underway.

Police believe this incident points toward a larger network using women as couriers in cross-border narcotics trafficking. Authorities have pledged to intensify surveillance and crackdown efforts to curb such illegal activities in the region.
