Households to get free electricity, extra income under PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana: Minister Ratan Lal Nath

The Sate power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday said PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana scheme will help save electricity and increase own household income. While addressing in the inaugural ceremony of PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, at Ranirgaon HS School, Jirania, power minister Ratan Lal Nath urged everyone to take advantage of this scheme and said that the main objective of this scheme is to enable residential families to generate their own electricity by using the rooftops of their houses. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this scheme on February 15, 2024, is one of the primary government schemes for solar panels. Its objective is to install solar systems in one crore homes with subsidies that can cover as much as 40% of the cost, he added.
Government subsidy is also being given according to the capacity of the solar plant for setting up this plant. A subsidy of up to Rs 85, 800 will be given for a 3 kW solar plant. Apart from this, residential electricity consumers will also be given a subsidy of 33 thousand rupees if they spend 65 thousand rupees for 1 kilowatt solar plant. 66 thousand will be given as subsidy for 2 KW if the expenditure is 1 lakh 30 thousand rupees, he added.
Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Vice President of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Biswajit Shil and others were also present.
