Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership between India & Russia has advanced over Past Ten Years in Many Sectors, Says PM Modi


Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia has advanced over the past ten years in many sectors. The sectors include energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

Ahead of his visit to Russia and Austria scheduled to begin today, the Prime Minister in his departure statement said, he is embarking on an official visit to Russia to attend the 22nd Annual Summit and his first-ever visit to Austria.

On the India-Russia relationship, the Prime Minister said, he is looking forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with his friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing perspectives on various regional and global issues. He said India seeks to play a supportive role in a peaceful and stable region. He said the visit will also provide him an opportunity to meet the vibrant Indian community in Russia.

On his Austria visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, Austria is India’s steadfast and reliable partner and both the countries share the ideals of democracy and pluralism. Mr. Modi said he will meet President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer during his visit.

This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister in over 40 years to Austria. The Prime Minister said he is looking forward to taking the India-Austria partnership to greater heights in new and emerging areas of innovation, technology and sustainable development among others. He said, with the Austrian Chancellor, he is looking forward to exchanging views with business leaders from both sides to explore mutually beneficial trade and investment opportunities. The Prime Minister said he will also be interacting with the Indian community in Austria which is well regarded for their professionalism and conduct.
