Sikkim gears up to host Khelo India University Games Boxing Championships from Feb 25-29
Feb 11, 2024Sikkim is abuzz with anticipation as it prepares to host the Khelo India University Games Ashtalaxmi Boxing Men’s category from February 25 to 29. The event will take place at the indoor gymnasium hall in Paljor Stadium complex, organized by the State Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, in collaboration with Sikkim University and funded by the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
Speaking at a press conference, Arjuna Awardee boxer Jaslal Pradhan, appointed as the Competition Manager by SAI, revealed that 104 boxers from eight universities would compete across 13 weight categories. Each weight category will feature eight boxers, with officials and volunteers from the Boxing Federation of India and Sports & Youth Affairs Department overseeing the event.
The Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association will provide technical support, with four qualified referees from Sikkim serving as referee cum judges.
