Bangladesh: President, Prime Minister mourn death of Lata Mangeshkar


Condolences poured in from all corners in Bangladesh on the passing away of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday. President M Abdul Hamid expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of the legendary singer of the sub-continent. In his condolence message President Hamid conveyed deep sympathy for the bereaved family.

Calling Lata Mangeshkar as ‘Sur-samraggi’, empress of music, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her condolence message said that she will remain alive forever in the hearts of the people in the region through her works. Expressing deep shock and sorrow, Prime Minister Hasina said that her passing away has created a great void in the musical arena of the subcontinent.

Speaker of the Bangladesh parliament Jatiya Sangsad Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury expressed her deep shock and sorrow on the death of Lata Mangeshkar. State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid also expressed profound shock at the passing away of Lata Mangeshkar.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Bangladesh in its condolence message said that Lata Mangeshkar will continue to live in the hearts of people of India and the subcontinent for her unparalleled contribution to music. Calling the death of Lata Mangeshkar at the passing of a legend and the end of an era,

Bangladesh’s permanent representative to the UN Rabab Fatima said that she will live on through her beautiful voice and music. A large number of musicians, artists and cultural activists of Bangladesh also expressed deep shock and sorrow on the passing away of the legendary singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.
