CM Dr Manik Saha inaugurates Synthetic Athletics Track in North Tripura


Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday inaugurated the state’s first Dr Arunava Roy Synthetic Athletics Track in the Regional College of Physical Education (RCPE) at Panisagar in North Tripura district and said that the government has given special attention to the development of the sports sector alongside the education sector.

Addressing the gathering of athletes and sports lover here in the inauguration programme, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that a proposal of Rs 38.55 crore has been send to the union ministry of DoNER recently for setting up of international standard sports complex here in the state under the ‘Khelo India’ scheme. Dr Saha mentioned that the state government is planning to set up an international standard sports complex at Bholagiri in Agartala.

The newly inaugurated track can host 400 meters, 200 meters, and even 800 meters races with ease.

He said that since the formation of our government, many synthetic turf football fields, swimming pools, sports complexes and other sports infrastructure facilities have been added across the state.

He also informed that under the Mukhyamantri Sports Development Scheme, a series of initiatives have been undertaken for the development of sports. He said, “In NSRCC, Agartala, we will set up a basketball and volleyball court, an indoor hall, and the Office of the Sports Department will be set up at Teliamura under Khowai district.”
