Arunachal Pradesh: Sudden Surge Of Heavy Rainfall Creates Havoc In Itanagar


In Arunachal Pradesh, a sudden surge of heavy rainfall created havoc in the capital city Itanagar today. Blockades, landslides, and flash floods have been reported from various locations in the capital region. Various low-lying areas were flooded with rain water and a portion of the NH 415 between Itanagar and Naharlagun twin city was partially damaged by flash flood, though traffic has not been affected. 

In response, Itanagar District Administration visited the flood-affected areas and took stock of the situation. Men and machinery were deployed to clear blockades. SDRF was mobilized at the vulnerable areas for evacuation. Affected roads and choked points were identified and respective executive engineers were instructed to take immediate action.

 District Disaster Management Officer Moromi Dodum Sonam has informed that relief camps have been identified at all vulnerable locations in the region.
