Tripura CM, Dy CM votes in Presidential election; Ministers, MLAs queued up


Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha voted in the Presidential election that began at 10 am on Monday, while the council of minister of the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, leader of oppositions, MLAs of the ruling party and the opposition parties queued up in the Tripura Legislative Assembly house to cast their vote to elect the 15th President of India.

Tripura MP Pratima Bhoumik and Rebati Tripura casted their vote in New Delhi on Monday. The counting of votes will take place on July 21 and the new President will take oath on July 25.

Soon after casting his vote on Monday the chief minister Dr. Saha expressed his confidence to state that NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu will win the election with landslide victory. He said, “Not only our party but also other parties supported her and she will win. Everyone is coming and will vote for her.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma after casting his vote marked the day as very significant and historical and said that this is for the first time in the history that an indigenous lady is a candidate for presidential election.

The Presidential election is being held today while the Vice Presidential election will be held on August 6.
