The government wants to stop drug addiction: Manik Saha


After the establishment of the current government in the state in March 2018, the prevalence of the use of various drugs was observed in the state. And it has a harmful effect on students and youth society. Realizing the importance of this issue, a massive anti-drug campaign was started. As a result of increasing anti-narcotics operations in the state, huge quantities of cannabis, phensidyl, brown sugar, narcotic tablets etc. are being seized. At the same time, the accused and drug traffickers are being arrested in related cases. With the objective of making a drug free Tripura, along with the campaign to make a drug free Tripura, regular anti-drug campaigns are being conducted.

Till August 2022, Tripura Police has achieved great success in its anti-narcotics campaign. This was said by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha while making a statement on the attention-grabbing notice brought by MLA Sudip Roy Barman in the Assembly session on Monday. He highlighted the success of the state police today and said that the crime branch of the Tripura police has formed the SIT. So that through proper investigation the network of drug dealers can be destroyed and the main culprits of drug dealers can be arrested. He also said that the attention of the central government has been drawn regarding setting up a branch of NCB in Agartala.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today also said that when he went door-to-door canvassing before the elections, women appealed to save their sons and daughters from drug addiction. He also said that he could never have imagined that so much cannabis is grown in Tripura state. This cannabis cultivation did not start after the establishment of the current government. He also claimed that this cannabis cultivation was growing at a huge rate during the previous government.
