Police seizes narcotics worth over Rs 3.75 crore, arrests one drug peddler


 

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Tripura police on Sunday night seized 1,50,000 Yaba tablets from Panisagar area.

The police stated that on Sunday night a vehicle bearing number AS01BY0198 which was coming from Assam towards Agartala was stopped at a Naka checking point at Panisagar. During the search of the vehicle police officials found 750 packets containing 1,50,000 Yaba tablets hidden in secret chambers inside the vehicle. Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated Yaba tablets in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 3.75 crore.

The driver of the car identified as Ratan Namashudra resident of Assam was arrested, said police. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
