In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Teliamura Police have arrested two youths in possession of brown sugar worth over Rs 5 lakh. The arrests were made during a raid near the Teliamura Railway Station on Sunday, following a tip-off received by the police.

According to official sources, the operation was conducted in the Trisha Bari area adjacent to the railway station. Acting on specific intelligence, police personnel observed two individuals behaving suspiciously. Upon detaining and searching them, officers recovered 115 grams of brown sugar estimated to have a street value exceeding Rs 5 lakh.

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Deepayan Ghosh and Agrajit Ghosh, both residents of Ghosh Para in Mohanpur. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused had disembarked from a train at Teliamura Railway Station and were attempting to transport the narcotics to Mohanpur.

Police have confirmed that a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway to uncover possible links to a larger drug network.
