Industry Minister inaugurates International MSME day observation programme

The state industry minister Santana Chakma on Thursday inaugurated the observance programme of international MSME day here in the auditorium of Hapania International Exhibition Hall and said that the government is focused on enhancing the state’s economy through development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Addressing the gathering in the programme, the minister said that the government aims to develop the economy of the state and make the people self-reliant. She said that people engaged in these industries are being made aware of the correct and comprehensive information about the various projects of the state and central government for the development of MSME in the state.
“As of June this year, 58,743 industrial establishments have been registered in the MSME Udyam scheme in the state. Of these, 57,725 are registered as micro, 149 small and 69 medium industries,” she said, adding that the government is working effortlessly to encourage for establishment of industries in the state.
On the other hand, the Director of the state industry and commerce department Vishwasree B. on Thursday said, “About 3 lakh micro, small and medium industries are registered in the North Eastern states. 35 percent of the registered industries in the state are run entirely by women. He said that the central government has recently sanctioned Rs 65 crore for the development of the MSME sector in the state under (RAMP) scheme.”
Additional Director of Industries and Commerce Department Swapna Debnath and Deputy Director of State Development and Facilitation Center Sohanlal Khalia among others were present in the programme.
