Govt approves construction of 21 electric crematoriums


To make cremation smooth and eco-friendly the state government has approved construction of 21 electric crematoriums in the state. These electric crematoriums will be constructed in various urban areas of the state. Under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment for All Urban Local Bodies scheme, the construction of these crematoriums will cost Rs 23.36 crore. Each crematorium will cost Rs 1.1 crore.

According to a official press release, electric crematoriums are known to be more environmentally friendly than traditional cremation method. It reduces environmental pollution. Besides, since the cremation is done very quickly in electric crematoriums, the people who come with the deceased have to spend much less time during cremation. Electric crematorium has many modern features for maintaining hygiene and sanitation, ensuring a dignified farewell for the deceased.

The press release further stated that the Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha-led state government is determined to deliver modern and improved services to the people of the state. It is for this purpose that this initiative to install electric crematorium has been taken. Construction of these electric crematoriums has already started in some urban areas.
