Sensex Down 126 Points; Nifty Shed 63 Points to Settle at 23,992

Indian stock markets have recovered some of their losses in today’s session, tracking a global rebound. However, the market failed to hold the early gains and ended lower for the third straight session amid volatility. At close, the Sensex was down 126 points or 0.16 percent at 78,633, and the Nifty shed 63 points or 0.26 percent at 23,992.
In line with the benchmarks, the broader markets at BSE also ended with loss as midcap and smallcap indices shed 0.5 percent each.
In the Sensex index, 19 out of 30 companies traded in the negative territory.
The major laggards were, Mahindra and Mahindra 1.77 percent, SBIN 1.65 percent and Bharti Airtel 1.53 percent. The top gainers today were, JSW Steel 2.36 percent, Tech Mahindra 1.63 percent and Larsen and Toubro 1.44 percent.
In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 16 out of 20 sectors logged losses.
The major laggards were, Telecommunication 1.15 percent, Financial Services 1.03 percent and Consumer Durables 0.92 percent. However, realty with 0.84 percent, Services with 0.27 percent and IT with 0.25 percent logged gains.
The overall market breadth at the BSE was negative, out of 4,028 Companies, shares of 1592 Companies advanced, 2,344 declined and 92 remain unchanged.
