Tourism industry has potential to grow Tripura’s economy: Minister Sushanta Chowdhury


The state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday said that the government is working to enhance the economy of the state through the tourism industry.

“Government has given special importance to the infrastructural development of tourist destinations in the state to explore the potentiality of growing the state’s economy,” he said while chairing a crucial meeting with the officials of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) here in the conference hall of the secretariat.

The minister advised the officials of ASI to be more responsible in providing facilities to the tourists visiting the tourist centres, which are under the aegis of the ASI. I

Director of Tourism Department Tapan Kumar, who accompanied the minister in the meeting said that various plans have been taken to beautify the tourist centers of the state. Eight historical structures of the state are being maintained by Aizawl centre of Archaeological Survey of India, he said, adding that initiatives have already been taken by the Department of Tourism for separate Circle Offices of ASI in the state.
