Manipur Sees High Voter Turnout in Lok Sabha Election’s First Phase


In Manipur, voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha Election was held without any major violence incident and recorded high voter turnout.

As per ECI report available at 5 PM this evening, the voter turnout in Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency is 72.32 percent while the Outer Parliamentary Constituency recorded 61.98 voter turnout. The Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency consists of 32 assembly constituencies and four assembly constituencies crossed 80 percent voter turnout.

On the other hand, the three assembly segments of Kangpokpi district of Manipur which is under Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency recorded lowest voter turnout today. The voter turnout of the district is around 30 percent as on 5 PM this evening compared to the overall voter turn of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency which is 61.98 percent.

However, the final voter turnout for both the Lok Sabha seats of Manipur is expected to be finalized after the polling personnel deployed in the interior areas of the State reach district headquarters.
