Govt working on zero tolerance policy to make Tripura drug free: CM Dr. Manik Saha


Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Friday inaugurated an awareness rally of ‘Khelo Tripura, Shustha Tripura’ program here at Agartala Umakanta Academy ground and said that government is working on zero tolerance policy to make Tripura drug free.

The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports organized the rally to spread awareness on drug menace and its impact on youths. Flagging off the rally from the Umakanta ground on Friday morning the Chief Minister said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has repeatedly emphasized in the meeting of the North Eastern Council that the entire North Eastern states should be made a drug-free zone.

Meanwhile, the Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushant Chowdhury who joined the rally on Friday morning, urged the government and police administration as well as people from all walks of life to come forward together in the fight against drug addiction.

He said, in the coming days, more such awareness campaigns will be conducted in every area of the state.

Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports Department. Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Chairperson Antara Sarkar Deb, Director of the department Subikash Debbarma among others were present in the programme while the Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder along with officials of the state administration, students from different schools and colleges, NSS volunteers and others took part in the rally.

The rally began from Umakanta ground and it moved across the capital town of Agartala. The rally ended here at Agartala Swami Vivekananda ground.
