No Link Found Between COVID-19 Vaccines and Sudden Deaths, Confirms ICMR-AIIMS Study

Extensive research conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has conclusively found no evidence linking COVID-19 vaccines to sudden deaths among adults post-vaccination, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare announced on Wednesday.

The Ministry highlighted that studies carried out jointly by ICMR and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reaffirm the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines administered in India. Instances of serious side effects remain extremely rare.

Sudden cardiac deaths, the Ministry explained, may arise due to various factors including genetic predisposition, lifestyle choices, pre-existing medical conditions, and complications following COVID-19 infection.

The collaborative efforts of ICMR and NCDC have been focused on understanding the causes behind sudden and unexplained deaths, particularly in young adults aged between 18 and 45 years.

These findings aim to strengthen public confidence in COVID-19 vaccination efforts as the country continues to combat the pandemic.
