President Droupadi Murmu says modern technological tools like artificial intelligence can be used for making life easier but also poses threats like deep fake


President Droupadi Murmu has said that modern technological tools like artificial intelligence can be used for making life easier but at the same time it poses a social threat like deep fake. To overcome this, moral-based education can show us the direction, she said. President was addressing the 111th convocation ceremony of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University today. Maharashtra Governor and University Chancellor Ramesh Bais, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil were present on the occasion.

While mentioning the significant number of female students getting degrees in this convocation, President informed that the Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University has more than half of female students out of the total 80,000 students who graduated today. 57% of the 129 PhD students are also female students.

President further said, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University has a glorious tradition and alumni of this university are making their mark in the fields of politics, science, judiciary and social service. Former Prime Minister P. Narasimha Rao, and former Chief Justice of India M. Hidayatullah and Sharad Bobde were distinguished alumni of this university. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who are former students of this university, were also mentioned by the President. She also said that the alumni of this university will play an important role in making the university a 'Global Center of Excellence'. The President congratulated Nagpur University and all the stakeholders of the University for adopting the National  Education Policy in its undergraduate and  Post Graduate Courses.

On this occasion, the President also awarded the D. Sc. Degree to Dr. Ramchandra Tupakari and Gold Medal to PhD holder in social science Rajshri Ramteke. In this convocation ceremony, 129 research scholars were awarded with PhD degrees.

Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, which was established on 4th August 1923, has completed 100 years and this year is being celebrated as the centenary year.
