2023 poll: BJP's core committee meet held


With almost all the opposition political parties here in the state of Tripura are hitting the ground hard in view of the ensuing assembly election, the ruling BJP party is working round the clock across the state to gain the poll ground. The BJP national general secretary B L Santosh who is in the poll-bound State, Sunday night chaired the party’s core committee meeting with the top leaders of the party here at the party office at Krishnanagar to check the poll preparedness.

Talking to our correspondent on Monday noon, the BJP leader Tinku Roy said, “The meeting mainly focused on preparing the leaders and the workers for the ensuing assembly election. It was simply an organizational meeting and a series of poll related issues and challenges were discussed in the meeting.”

Meanwhile, the BJP in its press communiqué on Sunday last announced that the party will start ‘Rath Yatra’ from the first week of January next year as part of gearing up for the Assembly polls due early next year.

“A three-member committee headed by Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has been constituted to oversee preparations for the yatra,” the press communiqué stated.

According to the statement, one yatra will set out from North Tripura district while another from South Tripura district. The main objective of the yatra is to seek the blessings of people in the run-up to the polls.

BJP national general secretary B.L. Santosh, who is in the poll-bound State, held the party’s election management committee meeting on Sunday evening to review its preparedness for the assembly election.

Meanwhile, the BJP on Sunday ended its mega public outreach programme – ‘Prati Ghare Susashon’. The campaign started from September 17 last and it continued across the state to aware the people about the welfare schemes and achievements of the Central and the State government.
