The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala on Tuesday celebrated Independence and National Day of the neighbouring Bangladesh nation and recalled Tripura’s contribution in 1971 Bangladesh liberation war.
The Assistant High Commissioner at Agartala Arif Mohammad hoisted the Bangladesh flag in presence of other dignitaries and laid wreaths to the portrait of to the founder of Bangladesh ‘Bangabandhu’ Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to commemorate the day.
“We celebrate the day with the people of Tripura. Tripura’s participation in Bangladesh attaining freedom is remarkable,” said Arif Mohammad, adding that the celebration has been organised in two phases, the first with the hoisting of the flag and reading out of messages by the Bangladesh President and Prime Minister. In the second phase, a reception programme was held at a private run hotel in the city on Tuesday evening.
