SRFTI to be start in Tripura from October 31: Sushanta Chowdhury


“After the long wait, the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) will start in Agartala from next 31 October”, Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Choudhury said this on Friday. Addressing a press conference, Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushant Choudhary said, as decided in a joint meeting, the notification for admission to the Agartala center of the institute will be published next 20th September after final approval from SRFTI. The center will starts with four short-term courses- Film Appreciation Course (4 weeks), Screen Acting (8 weeks, twice a year), Production Management for Cinema and Television (4 weeks) and Anchoring and News Reading.

The last date for submission of applications will be 20 October; During this one month period, interested candidates can submit the application. He said that the scrutiny of applications and admission process would be held from October 21 to October 30 next. “The SRFTI Agartala center will start at Nazrul Kalakshetra from October 31," Sushanta Choudhary announced at the press conference. He said, the course will start from November 7 and the distribution of certificates (convocation) will be on February 15 next year, he said.

The state government has alloted given Rs. 5.75 crore for the proposed center. PWD has been assigned to carry out works like internal electrification and renovation. The AMC has been assigned for beautification, he said, adding that the state government is developing the infrastructure as suggested by the SRFTI officials during his visit to Agartala.
