Senior IPS officer Amitabh Ranjan joins Tripura police as new DGP


Senior IPS officer Amitabh Ranjan has been appointed the new Director General of Police of Tripura replacing V S Yadav.

Amitabh Ranjan is an Indian Police Service officer of 1988 batch. Soon after his appointment, Amitabh Ranjan took the charge of the DGP of Tripura police on Thursday.

“Shri Amitabh Ranjan, IPS, has taken over the charge of Director General of Police, Tripura and Head of Police Force, Tripura on 28-07 2022, Forenoon. He has vast experience of working in the State of Tripura in various capacities and in the Intelligence Bureau. He belongs to 1988 batch of Indian Police Service,” said the press communique of the office of DGP on Thursday evening.

The Tripura police chief is changed within 19 days after the removal of Kumar Alok as the Chief Secretary.
