EAM S Jaishankar arrives in Maldives on 3-day visit to Maldives and Sri Lanka
Jan 18, 2023External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar arrived in Maldives today. He is on a 3-day visit to Maldives and Sri Lanka beginning today. Dr Jaishankar will call on Maldives' President Ibrahim Solih and hold discussions with Minister of Foreign affairs Abdul Shahid.
Before proceeding to Sri Lanka, he will participate in inauguration of India-backed projects. As part of the first leg of the visit Dr S Jaishankar has reached Maldives where he will hold talks with his Maldives counterpart Abdulla Shahid to review progress on bilateral cooperation. The two will exchange several Memoranda of Understanding also.
The external affairs minister will participate in the Groundbreaking ceremony of Hanimadhoo International Airport development project which will be undertaken through the Indian Line of credit.
Thereafter, He will inaugurate the Shaviyani Foakaidhoo Community centre developed under Indian Grant assistance. Dr Jaishankar will proceed to Colombo tomorrow where he is scheduled to meet the Sri Lankan leadership.
He will hold discussions with Foreign minister Ali Sabry on relations between the two countries and steps to strengthen it in all spheres.
