CPI(ML) delegation meets Guv over Gandacherra violence

A delegation of the CPI(ML) on Friday submitted a memorandum with the Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and demanded judicial enquiry into the Gandacherra violence and urged him to address the issue.
Raising concern over the violence in Gandacherra occurred in the first week of July this year, the delegation demanded constitution of a judicial enquiry Commission, led by a retired High Court judge, to thoroughly investigate the incidents and identify those responsible, ensuring adequate facilities in the refugee camps (provisions such as Shatranjis, blankets, mosquito nets, clean drinking water, and medical care), Rs 50 lakh compensation and a regular government job for eligible family member of the deceased Parameshwar Reang, 100 percent compensation for the homeless and uprooted families that would enable them to rebuild their houses and shops for resuming their livelihood, enhancing security arrangements in the affected areas among others.
The CPI(ML) Tripura State Committee stressed that restoring unity and trust among the people is crucial and urged the state government to prioritize equality and justice, emphasizing the need to avoid divisive politics and criminalization.
Highlighting gaps in compensation, the party also requested the state government to take immediate steps to provide full compensation and initial assistance of Rs 25,000 to 13 unlisted affected families.
Expressing concern over the role of the state government for ‘failing to address the crucial Gandatwisa issue’ the delegation demanded the Governor of the state to intervene and take appropriate action in addressing the plight of the victims.
Partha Karmakar, Secretary CPI(ML) Tripura State Committee, Swapan Banik, Manik Pal, Babul Pal, Sajahan Mia among others were present in the delegation.
