Tripura made significant progress in the rollout of 5G technology: CM Dr Manik Saha

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday attended the Rising North East Investors’ Summit at Delhi and highlighted Tripura’s immense potential in technology, 5G and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“Artificial Intelligence and 5G technology are the gateway to growth, innovation and prosperity,” Dr Saha said in his speech. He said that the North East states are blessed with natural beauty and abundant resources. They are truly the reflection of Maa Lakshmi, who symbolizes the multifaceted blessings of wealth, knowledge, power and prosperity.
Dr Saha participated in a discussion titled 'IT for Ashtalaxmi: Beyond the Bits and Bytes, Into Al and 5G' organized by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a very significant name 'Ashtalaxmi' to the 8 states of the North Eastern region.
Dr Saha congratulated the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region for organizing this important event. He said, where 5G technology is capable of sending information faster and with less latency, AI uses advanced algorithms to simplify various processes, resulting in speed, efficiency and cost savings. The Chief Minister further said that by adopting 5G and AI, people will be able to open new avenues of growth, innovation and prosperity. 5G technology is not just an improvement in mobile networks, it is a means of social and economic development.
AI and 5G can be used in agriculture, culture and creative economy, education, healthcare, tourism, disaster management and good governance, Dr Saha said, adding that AI-based weather alerts and IoT for accurate agriculture Connected soil sensors can increase crop yields by 15-20 percent.
Dr Saha said that Tripura has made significant progress in the rollout of 5G technology, with all the cities and 583 villages of the state already connected. Tripura has formulated policies for the development of telecom infrastructure, including Information Technology Policy 2022 and Data Centre Policy 2021.
The government has allotted land for setting up data centres, one of which has been given to Airtel, which will be set up in Agartala for the entire East and North-East India. He further said that Tripura government has recently signed an agreement with the National e-Governance Department and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India.
