Football: India beat Mongolia in the opening match of U-20 Asia cup qualifiers

In football, India beat Mongolia 4-1 in the opening match of its AFC Under 20 Asian Cup qualifiers in Vientiane, Laos today. India won three points in Group G. Goals from Kelvin Singh, Korou Singh Thingujam, and Manglenthang Kipgen, assisted India in taking the lead. Kipgen struck twice in three minutes following the half to give India a commanding 3-1 advantage. To seal the victory, Korou scored a fourth goal in the 86th minute.
India will take on Iran in the next match on Friday. The top-ranked team in the group will directly qualify for the finals in China next year.
The 2025 AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers is an international men’s under-20 football competition that will be held to decide the participating teams of the 2025 U-20 AFC Asian Cup. 45 out of 47 AFC member associations are expected to enter the competition. China as the host of the final tournament will not participate.
