Tripura Film and Television Institute inaugurates

Agartala: Nov 28: The much awaited Tripura Film and Television Institute was inaugurated at Nazrul Kalakshetra on Monday. On this day, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the film institute by unveiling the plaque. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that no one could have imagined that there would be a film and television institute in the state of Tripura. In the mixed settlement state of Tripura, there is no way to underestimate the cultural culture of the people. A door was opened to bring the people's culture to the world through the journey of Tripura Film and Television Institute.

On the other hand, speaking at the event, Information and Culture Department Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that a short-term course will be launched at Tripura Film and Television Institute first. There will be 8 weeks, 4 weeks course. The state government will provide 90 percent subsidy of the money required for this course. Students have to pay only 10 percent. Diploma, degree and PG courses will be introduced in Tripura Film and Television Institute gradually. Classes will start at Tripura Film and Television Institute on December 1. Classes will be conducted by the faculty of SRFTI Kolkata.

In the first batch all total 47 number of students have enrolled and the session is likely to start its short term courses from coming December 1. The institute shall initially run four certificate courses like - Film Appreciation, Screen Acting, Production for Cinema and Television beside Anchoring and News Reading informed ICA Minister Chowdhury. Addressing the gathering the Bangladesh actor viewed that in the coming days the institute can also be open for the Bangladeshi students and talents and films made from this centre shall further strengthen the friendship between India and Banglasesh.State Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar, SRFTI Kolkata Director Himanshu Shekhar Kathua, Bangladesh film actor Ferdous Ahmed and others were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
