Israel attacks continue on Gaza, 21 killed

Israel has continued its attacks on Gaza, killing 21 people, in response to what it says were rockets fired by Palestinian groups.

The violence comes a day after Israeli military airstrikes killed three leaders of the Palestinian militant group and 10 other Palestinian men, women and children in Gaza. Gaza’s health ministry confirmed the death, said Four of those killed yesterday were fighters with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

However, Israeli officials said more than 400 rockets had been fired as of Wednesday evening. Most, they said, fell in open areas.

Meanwhile, UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres condemned civilian deaths in Gaza as unacceptable and appealed for them to stop immediately, Deputy UN spokesperson Farhan Haq informed.

He said Israel must abide by its obligations under international humanitarian law, including the proportional use of force and taking all feasible precautions to spare civilians and civilian objects in the conduct of military operations.
