Union Home Minister Amit Shah visits border town of Moreh in Manipur

In Manipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is holding a series of peace talks with the leaders of different civil society organisations in the border town of Moreh.

Different communities have been living together for many years in this town neighbouring Myanmar. However, most of the members of the majority community have left the town and taken shelter in several areas,  including inside Myanmar after their houses were set ablaze. The town is one of the most affected areas in the recent crisis.

Amit Shah is scheduled to meet the affected families of the majority community in Moreh this afternoon. He will also attend a peace meeting with the Meetei civil society. Mr Shah is expected to visit Kangpokpi district during his stay in the State.

Meanwhile, sporadic firing between security forces and suspected militants is still going on in Litanpokpi village under Imphal East district.
