Tripura’s first Chief Minister’s son joins BJP ahead of LS poll

In a major setback for the opposition Congress party and the Trinamool Congress ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha poll, the son of Tripura’s first Chief Minister and also the ex-president of the TMC party – Asish Lal Singh along with the Media and Communication Cell in-charge of the Tripura Pradesh Congress committee Prasanta Bhattacharjee on Wednesday joined the ruling BJP party.

The BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee accompanied by the minister Sushanta Chowdhury, BJP leader Amit Rakshit and other leaders welcomed them in the party by handing over the party flag with them.

Joining the BJP party, the former TMVC leader Asish Lal Singh said that he was impressed by the developmental works being carried out by the BJP at the centre and state as well. He blamed his former party TMC and its chief Mamata Banerjee for showing disinterest to the party functionary in Tripura, where the local leaders were never allowed to meet her even.

On the other hand, the congress leader Prasanta Bhattacharjee, who also joined the BJP party on Wednesday said that the Congress party is now dependent on its rival CPI(M) and people of this state had already opposed the pre-poll adjustment of the Congress party.
