Domestic markets end in green territory


Benchmark domestic equity indices continued their upward momentum today, extending gains from the previous session, boosted by a broad-based rally and mirroring gains in major Asian markets. The 30-share index at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, rose 0.55 percent or rose 444 points to settle at 81,442 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty-50 climbed 131 points or 0.53 per cent to end at 24,751.

The broader market indices mirrored gains in benchmark indices. The Mid-Cap index rose 0.39 per cent, while the Small-Cap index closed with a 0.65 per cent gain.

In the Sensex index, 18 out of 30 companies ended with gains. Among the top gainers, Eternal rose 4.50 per cent, Powergrid gained 1.96 per cent, ICICI Bank added 1.65 per cent, and Reliance climbed 1.37 per cent. Conversely, IndusInd Bank lost 1.41 per cent, Axis Bank slipped 1.06 per cent, Bajaj Financial Services shed 0.63 per cent, and Bajaj Finance lost 0.57 per cent.

In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 19 out of 21 sectors closed in green territory. Realty added 1.79 per cent, Services rose 1.09 per cent, and Healthcare added 0.88 per cent. On the other side, Auto sector shed 0.05 per cent and Oil and Gas slipped 0.02 per cent.

The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive as shares of 2,257 companies advanced, shares of 1,725 companies declined, while shares of 147 companies remained unchanged. At the National Stock Exchange, 72 companies hit their 52-week high, while 21 hit their 52-week low.
