RS by-polls: Former CM Biplab Kumar deb filed nomination


The former chief minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb who was recently appointed as the ‘Prabhari’ of the state of Haryana on Monday filed his nomination as a BJP candidate for the September 22 bypoll to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from the state. Deb was accompanied by the Chief Minister Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma, Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik and BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee.

Deb will contest from the seat vacated by Manik Saha who replaced him as the chief minister in the run-up to the ensuing 2023 assembly polls. “As the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central leaderships of the party appointed me as the Prabhari of the state of Haryana and also nominated me for the by-polls, I will put out my utmost effort to further strengthen the party in both the states,” Deb told reporters on Monday while submitting his nomination paper. He urged BJP leaders and workers to put up a united fight for the 2023 assembly elections in the northeastern state.
