28 BJP leaders join Congress; BJP moving back to its 1.57% vote share, says Sudip

At a time when the ruling BJP party is leaving no stone unturned in getting the deck ready for the ensuing 2023 general assembly election in Tripura, the opposition Congress party on Wednesday claimed, “BJP is on its way back to its original position of 1.57%.”

Addressing a press conference here at Agartala Congress Bhawan the former minister of the BJP led coalition government and currently the congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Wednesday welcomed at least 28 BJP leaders from four assembly constituencies in the congress party and said, “People and even the BJP karyakartas are frustrated with the dirty politics of the BJP party, which is now moving back to its original position of 1.57% votes.”

“Gradually getting detached from the people of this state, the BJP had looted votes during the last election here to keep maintain its existence of mis-rule, but in the coming days they will not get such opportunity where they can loot votes,” Barman said, adding that the congress took up series of movement programmes against the BJP across the state of Tripura.

Barman however called the like minded parties to come forward for the sake of rescuing democracy in Tripura. He said, “The Congress party is committed to oust this fascist BJP from power.”

As many as 28 grassroot leaders of the ruling BKP party from four assembly constituencies of Khayerpur, Majlishpur, Mandai and Pratapgarh joined the congress party on Wednesday.
