Country’s Exports Rise by Nearly 6% in Q1 of Current Fiscal Year
Jul 16, 2025
India's exports have experienced a significant uptick, rising by nearly 6% in the first quarter of the current financial year. The total exports reached over $210 billion, up from $198.52 billion during the same period last year.
In a media briefing in New Delhi, Commerce and Industry Secretary Sunil Barthwal highlighted the positive performance of the country's trade sector. The data shows that imports have registered a decline of 3.71%, totaling $53.92 billion in June 2025, compared to $56 billion in June 2024.
Furthermore, the country’s overall export in merchandise and services saw an increase, reaching $67.98 billion in June 2025, up from $63.83 billion in the same month last year. This growth reflects a stronger global demand for both goods and services from India.
However, despite the growth in exports, the country’s trade deficit stood at $18.78 billion in June, signaling an ongoing imbalance between imports and exports.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry remains optimistic about the trade outlook, despite challenges in the global market, and continues to focus on strategies to boost the country's export potential.
