Last rites of Prime Minister Modi's mother Heeraben performed at Gandhinagar


Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Smt. Heeraben cremated at the crematorium in Gandhinagar. Shrimati Hiraben breathed her last at UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center Ahmedabad at early morning 3.30 am today.

Prime Minister Modi came to Ahmedabad this morning and after his arrival, the mortal remains of Smt Heeraben cremated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Modi family members, close relatives, Chief Minister of the state Bhupendrabhai Patel and many others were present during last rites.

In an emotional tweet, Prime Minister said that a glorious century now rests at the feet of God. Paying tribute to his mother, Mr Modi said that he felt the presence of a trinity in his mother which symbolizes the journey of an ascetic, a selfless Karmayogi and a life dedicated to values.

Recalling his meeting with his mother on her 100th birthday, the Prime Minister said that she encouraged him to work with intelligence and live a life with purity.

During a 2015 town hall session with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in San Jose, Prime Minister Modi had remembered the difficulties his mother endured to bring up her children.

Political leaders cutting across from across the party spectrum expressed their grief on the demise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother.

Paying tribute to PM Modi's mother, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the struggles faced by Hira Ba to nurture the family is a role model for all. Mr Shah said that the entire nation stands with Prime Minister Modi and his family in this hour of grief.

President Droupadi Murmu has offered condolence to the demise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben. In a message, President Murmu termed Heeraba's hundred years of struggling life as a symbol of Indian ideals. She said Mr Modi has imbibed the spirit of matri devo bhava and the values of Hiraba in his life as well.

Paying tribute to Heeraben, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that she had exemplified simplicity and sublimity reflecting the virtuosity of motherhood. He has also prayed for eternal peace to her departed soul.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that he is deeply pained by the incident and added that the death of a mother leaves such a void in one's life that it is impossible to fill.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has expressed grief over the demise of Prime Minister's mother Heeraben Modi. In a tweet today, Mr. Birla said, mother nourishes a person's life with values and Hiraba's virtuous life is an inspiration for all. He paid his condolences to the Prime Minister and his family in this hour of grief.

BJP president JP Nadda said that the struggling and virtuous life of Hira Ba is an inspiration. He said that her affection and truthfulness gave the country a successful leadership. Mr Nadda said the loss is irreparable.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and the party leader Rahul Gandhi have expressed grief over the demise of Prime Minister's mother Heeraben Modi. In a tweet, Mr. Kharge paid his condolences to the Prime Minister saying that his thoughts and prayers are with the entire family in this hour of grief.

In a tweet, Mr. Gandhi said, the news of the demise of Prime Minister's mother is extremely sad. He said, at this difficult time, he extends his deepest condolences to the Prime Minister and his family.

Condolences have started pouring in from across the world over the demise of the mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an Ahmedabad hospital .

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was one of the first world leaders to offer condolences to PM Narendra Modi over the passing away of his mother, Heeraben Modi.  In a tweet  Mr Kishida  expressed  his deepest condolences for the passing of Heeraben Modi .

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ also expressed sadness over the death of PM Modi’s mother. In a tweet, Nepal PM stated,  he  expressed  heartfelt condolences to PM Modi  and the family members  Former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa  also condoled the death of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother. 

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov offered condolences to PM Modi over the death of his mother.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed condolence over the demise of PM Modi's mother Heeraben. Expressing his condolence in a Tweet, he said, there is no greater loss than losing one's mother.
