TW Minister inaugurates Tripura’s first Van Dhan Vikas Kendra
Mar 18, 2023The state Tribal Welfare minister Bikash Debbarma, Saturday inaugurated the first outlet of Van Dhan Vikas Kendra at Gorkhabasti in Agartala.
To promote entrepreneurship among minor forest produce gatherers, the then Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had launched the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana in the state in 2020.
The Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma said that the government is mulling to launch Van Dhan Vikas outlets in other districts as well, where the organic products made out of forest resources will be available.
The Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana was started with the aim to boost the livelihood opportunities of indigenous communities by harnessing forest wealth.
The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs had sanctioned an amount of Rs 144.60 lakh for setting up 10 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras in 2020-21.
