3-day long Independence Day celebration begins in Tripura


Web Desk, Aug 13: Chief Minister Dr, Manik Saha on Saturday launched the three-day long celebration of Independence Day in the state by a high-mast by hoisting national flag in front of the Civil Secretariat in the presence of his cabinet colleagues and senior officials.

The Chief Minister attended series of events organised here at Agartala and other parts of the state to mark the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

Dr. Saha flagged off a colourful procession – Run for Green Tripura in the New Secretariat Complex on Saturday organised by the ARPAN society – one of the state’s leading social and environmental research institutes.

The Chief Minister also participated in a programme with school students at Umakanta Academy and handed over the tri-colour to the students.

As the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign has begun in Tripura along with rest of the country, the chief minister appealed to the people to hoist the national flags in their houses from August 13 to 15 to pay respect to the freedom fighters and also to propagate patriotism among the general public, students and other walks of life.
