Narikel Kunj, Unakoti to get helicopter service for tourists soon


Aiming to attract more tourists from abroad and also to boost the tourism sector, the tourism department has taken the initiative to launch helicopter service 'Hawaii Tour' at Narikel Kunj in Dumbur and at Unakoti.

The Secretary of Tourism Department Uttam Kumar Chakma informed that Rs. 2300 as price of air ticket has been fixed for one person for traveling to Narikel Kunj at Dumbur and Rs. 2500 for Unakoti and four passengers are mandated for each trip to either of the tourist destination. The helicopter service may be suspended due to emergency, he told reporters.

The secretary further said that construction of 49 modern log huts has been undertaken in various parts of the state in order to attract tourists from all over the state. Out of this, 31 log huts have already been setup in Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary, Tepania eco park, Ambassa, Baramura Ecopark and Narikel Kunj.

Watchtower, ticket counter, parking, gallery shed, tourist facilitation center and road renovation work has been completed through Swadesh Darshan-1 project work to beautify Neer Mahal water palace, he said, adding that the Ministry of Tourism of the Union Government has sanctioned Rs. 8.88 crore to install light and sound show at Agartala Ujjayanta Palace. The Agartala Smart City has been entrusted with the task of implementing this work.
