CM Dr Saha inaugurates super league football tournament; pitches for drug-free Tripura


Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday inaugurated the South Tripura NM Super League Football Tournament at Belonia BKI ground and said that playgrounds can play a crucial role in eliminating drug menace and keep away the youths from drug addiction.

He said that building a drug-free Tripura will be easier if the youths can be more involved in sports. Government is committed to preventing the use of illicit drugs and HIV infection. The state government is working with an uncompromising attitude against drugs, he said.

He said Tripura has the highest number of drug seizures and destruction among North Eastern states. Besides, de-addiction centers are being opened in eight districts of our state.

The Chief Minister lauded the initiative of the South Tripura district administration for this football competition and said that this will make the people aware of the ill effects of drug addiction.

Meanwhile, the state sports minister Tinku Roy said, “To create the Prime Minister's dream of Young India, we need to create a drug-free youth society.” He sought the cooperation of people from all sections of the society to create a drug-free youth society.
