Tripura Govt adopted zero tolerance policy against drug addcition: CM Dr. Manik Saha


Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday launched Satellite Opioid Substitution Therapy (S-OST) Centre & expansion of Art Plus Centre at AGMC and GBP Hospital and FI-CTC centre at Modern Psychiatric Hospital at Narshingarh and said that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drug addiction.

The Chief Minister stressed on healthy lifestyle and said that the youths are being largely affected by the deadly disease of HIV and ill effect of drugs.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the country with the goal of creating a drug-free society and a drug-free India and moving in line with the policy of the Modi led government at the Centre, the state government has also taken various programs and policies to make Tripura drug free,” Dr. Saha said.

The chief minister called for a collective effort in ending the drug menace in the state and said that the state of Tripura has ranked top among the northeastern states in terms of highest number of drug seizures.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that efforts have been made to provide improved health services to the last person of the society. Health and education are one of the priority areas of the government, he added.

Project Director of Tripura State AIDS Control Society Dr. Shankar Das, Principal of Agartala Government Medical College Dr. Anup Kumar Saha, and others were present in the programme.
