Sinner to Face Alcaraz in Wimbledon 2025 Final; Świątek Clinches Maiden Title
Jul 13, 2025
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy will take on two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the Wimbledon 2025 Men’s Singles final at the All England Club this evening. The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to begin at 8:30 PM IST.
Alcaraz, aiming for his third consecutive Wimbledon crown, secured his place in the final with a hard-fought victory over American Taylor Fritz in the semifinals. Sinner, meanwhile, earned his spot by defeating Serbian legend Novak Djokovic in a gripping semifinal encounter.
While Alcaraz holds a psychological edge with five consecutive wins in their recent meetings, Sinner can take confidence from their only previous showdown at Wimbledon — a match he won in 2022.
In the Women’s Singles final, Iga Świątek delivered a masterclass to clinch her first Wimbledon title and sixth Grand Slam crown. The Polish star dismantled American Amanda Anisimova in just 57 minutes, winning 6-0, 6-0 in a completely one-sided contest. With this triumph, Świątek becomes the first Polish woman to lift the prestigious Venus Rosewater Dish.
In doubles action, history was made by the British duo Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, who became the first all-British pair to win the Men’s Doubles title at Wimbledon since 1936. They defeated Rinky Hijikata of Australia and David Pel of the Netherlands in straight sets, sending home fans into raptures.
